Tippecanoe County Council At Large
Susan Schechter is a business owner and engaged in community activities. She started her career as a scientist in Boston, MA and retired from Purdue University as the manager of a national agricultural data system. She has served on the board of directors of the Greater Lafayette Chapter of the ACLU of Indiana, the Wabash Valley Trust for Historic Preservation, and Bicycle Lafayette and as a court-appointed child advocate through the 1990’s.
Since 2010, Susan has been directing her energies toward solutions to climate change. She installed solar panels on the 1865 downtown building that houses her family business. The renewable energy electrifies ¼ block of historic downtown Lafayette. When commercial wind farms were banned in Tippecanoe County, Susan saw that our county government is out of touch and decided to run for County Council.
Susan believes that county spending should reflect our values: a safe, diverse and resilient community. As a council member she will pursue targeted spending with measurable outcomes to achieve community priorities.
