Linda Lawson

Linda Lawson is a lifelong champion for social justice and equality, women, workers, animals, and public schools. She is no stranger to breaking glass ceilings and leading the way for women. Linda was the first female officer of the Hammond Police Department and retired as Captain 24 years later. In 1998, Linda was elected to the Indiana House of Representatives representing District 1. She served as the House Judiciary Chair for six years. In 2012, she became the first female elected by the House Democratic caucus to serve as the Floor Leader and remained in the leadership position until her retirement in 2018.
